Baseball Recap: Collin Stuart Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Rhea County

Cleveland won against Walker Valley last Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Blue Raiders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rhea County Golden Eagles a 4-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Raiders in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Owen Goglio made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Jaxon Hafley looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Goglio wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Collin Stuart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

Cleveland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rhea County struck out 14 times.

Cleveland's record now sits at 18-7. As for Rhea County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Cleveland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rhea County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
