Volleyball Recap: Los Altos Eagles vs. Carlmont Scots

Los Altos and Carlmont squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Los Altos had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Scots by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Los Altos started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 27-29, 25-14, 25-21, 15-11.

Carlmont found their leader in freshman Nicolai Liu, who had 16 digs and six assists. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Liu. Aeron Gurskis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Los Altos' loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Carlmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 23-15 record this season.
