Recap: Juarez Eagles vs. Kelly Trojans
The Juarez Eagles lost against the Kelly Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Juarez suffered a tough 48-23 defeat at the hands of Kelly. Juarez has not had much luck with Kelly recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Emily Flores and Martha Patino certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Flores scored 9 points, while Patino scored 8 points. Flores scored a full 39.1% of Juarez's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Kelly was led to victory by Delilah Lopez and Natasha Soriano. Lopez scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals, while Soriano dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals. Soriano is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Juarez's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Kelly, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Juarez will take on Thornridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 551st, while Juarez is ranked 267th). As for Kelly, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hyde Park at 5:00 p.m. Hyde Park is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
