Preview: San Marcos HomeSchool Panthers vs. Legacy School of Sport Sciences Titans
After 20 games on the road, San Marcos HomeSchool is heading back home. They will take on the Legacy School of Sport Sciences Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, San Marcos HomeSchool earned a 56-49 win over Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries. Given San Marcos HomeSchool's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Marcos HomeSchool's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Hurta, who scored 23 points. Hurta hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Kendall Beck was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Legacy School of Sport Sciences' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 71-57 to Episcopal. Legacy School of Sport Sciences was down 58-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Legacy School of Sport Sciences' loss came about despite a quality game from Simran Williams, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brittney Anderson, who scored 12 points.
San Marcos HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Legacy School of Sport Sciences, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
