Baseball Game Preview: Kennebunk Rams vs. Cheverus Stags

The Kennebunk Rams will take on the Cheverus Stags at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Kennebunk's offense. They lost 13-0 to Gorham on Friday. Kennebunk has struggled against Gorham recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Cheverus faced Scarborough in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Stags skirted past the Red Storm 7-5. While the Stags didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Colton Jewett looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Baker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Collins, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cheverus' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for Kennebunk, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Kennebunk came out on top in a nail-biter against Cheverus in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Stags have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
