Softball Recap: Lawson Takes a Loss

Lawson lost against Battle Ground Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lightning came up short against the Wildcats, falling 17-2. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lawson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenzie Cotton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Cotton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another was Isabella Batts, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lawson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Battle Ground Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawson will host Pope John Paul II at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Battle Ground Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Columbia Academy at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
