Basketball Recap: Havelock Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Havelock extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the White Oak Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 61-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Havelock still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Prichard, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and four steals. Prichard is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyking Patillo, who had 11 points.

As for White Oak, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games.

Leading White Oak to victory were Zarion Hobbs and Isaac Baxter. Hobbs went 8-for-14 on his way to 30 points and six boards, while Baxter dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hobbs has scored at least a third of the Vikings' points. Josiah Mattocks was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Coming up, Havelock is taking a road trip to face off against West Craven at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for White Oak, they have already played their next matchup, a 71-66 loss against Croatan on the 9th.
