Softball Recap: Mcewen Has No Trouble Against Mckenzie

McEwen got themselves on the board against McKenzie on Tuesday, but McKenzie never followed suit. They blew past the Rebels 10-0. Considering the Warriors have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Ava Lastovka, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep McKenzie off the board. Lastovka has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tylee Tummins, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Ange was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

McEwen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

McEwen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for McKenzie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, McEwen will face off against Montgomery Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McKenzie, they will square off against Huntingdon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
