Basketball Recap: Galax Comes Up Short

Galax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alleghany Trojans. The Maroon Tide were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Alleghany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lance Shatley, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Colby Crouse, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Galax's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Alleghany, their record is now 3-5.

Galax will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Giles at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Alleghany, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-42 win against Forbush on the 21st.
