Softball Game Preview: Clayton Comets vs. Fuquay - Varina Bengals

The Clayton Comets are taking a road trip to face off against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Clayton's offense. They fell 3-0 to Corinth Holders on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Comets in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Willow Spring 5-3.

Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Fuquay - Varina, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Clayton skirted past Fuquay - Varina 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clayton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
