Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Drops Highest Score of Season Against Greeley West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fossil Ridge). They never let the Greeley West Spartans get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the SaberCats, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Logan Hessler looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matt Lang, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Brady Bradford was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Fossil Ridge's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Greeley West, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Fossil Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
