Recap: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Bakersfield Christian Eagles

The Pinnacle Pioneers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Bakersfield Christian by a score of 64-62. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pinnacle came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 35th in Arizona, while Bakersfield Christian is ranked 194th in California).

Pinnacle lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braylon Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Nelson, who scored 15 points.

Pinnacle's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Bakersfield Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Pinnacle is on the road again on Thursday and play against Houston Christian at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Houston Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Pinnacle likes a good challenge. Bakersfield Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brophy College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Brophy College Prep is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
