Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foothill walked away with it. They blew past the Liberty Lions 8-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Falcons have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Take Sato-Kreis tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Foothill got a big performance out of Austin Rost, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rost has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Dylan Souza, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .267.

Foothill has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Coming up, Foothill will square off against Benicia on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.6, the Panthers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
