DCIAA - Stars Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Saturday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Ginyard Posts Huge Game in 40-15 Win

Starting off the list is Eastern's Daquan Ginyard, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Ginyard rushed for 217 yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 145 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Eastern is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Ginyard will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Woodson on Friday.

Smith Made His Presence Known in Roosevelt's 35-0 Victory

Roosevelt found a leader in Deyon Smith as the squad took down Jackson-Reed on Saturday. Smith did his part (and then some), rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 35 receiving yards for the 'W'.

Jackson-Reed's probably not too fond of Smith given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Smith saw the Tigers), he rushed for 145 yards.

Jamal Gilmore Delivers Best Effort of Season

Jamal Gilmore produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Roosevelt to the win on Saturday. Gilmore picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.

For the season, Gilmore has caught 4 touchdowns while averaging 57.3 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 4.67 receiving yards per game.

A Constellation of Stars for Roosevelt

Another Roosevelt player making an appearance on this list is David Anderson. He threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes.

Anderson and Roosevelt will take on Dunbar at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The match will pit Anderson up against the Crimson Tide's star quarterback Brosnan Dukes. With so much talent on the field, fans are surely in for an exciting game. The only thing left to see is who brings home the W.
