Buena Vista had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by the Irion County Hornets on the road to the tune of 59-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colton Lawdermilk, who picked up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 57 yards on only eight carries.
Buena Vista will head out on the road to face off against Union Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Irion County, they will welcome Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
