Exeter had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Woodlake Tigers. The Monarchs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Tanner Garnett and Gilbert Ortiz did most of the damage at the plate: Garnett scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Ortiz scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Ortiz a new career-high in RBI (three). Jacob Molina was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Exeter's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Exeter will head out to square off against Hanford West at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woodlake, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Wonderful College Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. Wonderful College Prep Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.75 runs per game on average), something Woodlake will no doubt try to take advantage of.
