Football Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Timberline Spartans
Troy was the 42-18 winner over Timberline when they last played one another back in September of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans were dealt an 80-20 loss at the hands of the Spartans on Friday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Troy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Christensen, who threw for 172 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 53 yards.
Troy's record now sits at 1-5. As for Timberline, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Troy will take on Lapwai at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Timberline, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Genesee/Colton WA at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
