Lamar Consolidated waltzed into their match  on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with  a   3-1  win over the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Lamar Consolidated had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-15,  25-15.
Lamar Consolidated found their leader in sophomore  Julissa Zepeda, who  had six  digs and three  aces.  Gift Ilodigwe also deserves some recognition as  she  posted her first assists of the season.
 Lamar Consolidated  was lethal from the service line and  finished the game with 14  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least 12  aces in three consecutive  games.
 When it comes to explaining why Fort Bend Marshall lost, don't look at  Jennifer Ruth. Despite the final result, she  had 15  digs and three  aces. Ruth has been hot recently, having  posted 13 or more  digs the last three times she's  played.
Lamar Consolidated's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Fort Bend Marshall, they moved to 10-2 with that  loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
