Football Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Palmetto Tigers

The Mitchell Mustangs will face off against the Palmetto Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mitchell will be strutting in after a victory while Palmetto will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Mitchell earned a 13-6 win over Wiregrass Ranch.

Mitchell found their leader in sophomore Janiya Crowder, who picked up 57 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 32 yards. Briann Coure made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Mitchell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Coure and Carys Thuma. Coure got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Palmetto played against Bayshore on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Mitchell has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games. As for Palmetto, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
