Football Recap: Marsing Falls to Cole Valley Christian in First Game of Season

Marsing kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 35-6 defeat at the hands of the Cole Valley Christian Chargers. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Cole Valley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Shanks, who rushed for 80 yards and two scores. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Shanks a new career-high. Braydon Van Boven was another key passer, throwing for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Marsing and Cole Valley Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Huskies see the field they'll take on Wendell at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Cole Valley Christian, their break will end when they face Melba at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
