Volleyball Recap: Jefferson Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sarinah Ovalle and Mariana Botello

After flying high against Sheridan on Thursday, Jefferson came back down to earth. The Saints fell 3-1 to The Pinnacle Timberwolves on Monday. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Jefferson was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made The Pinnacle work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 26-24.

Jefferson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mariana Botello, who had 17 assists, and Sarinah Ovalle, who had 11 digs.

The Pinnacle was led to victory by Karen Santiesteban and Addison Leapaldt. Santiesteban had 13 digs and six aces, while Leapaldt hit 66.7% for six kills and 15 aces and nine digs. With that strong performance, Leapaldt is now averaging an impressive 2.6 aces per game.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for The Pinnacle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Jefferson has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Englewood on the 9th. As for The Pinnacle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Fort Lupton on the 7th.
