League recap: Vidalia stuns Benedictine in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Vidalia, who took down 178th ranked Benedictine, 12-7.

The Indians moved up to 81 from 231 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA Region 2. Vidalia climbed the ranks as a result of a 12-7 win over the Cadets.

Jeff Davis's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hunter Beck threw for 16 yards and Ross Dubberly had 10 yards receiving. On the ground T.J. Kelly chipped in 37 yards. Quay Black helped Jeff Davis' passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.

Jeff Davis' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Yellowjackets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Beck has thrown for 183 yards this season, while Black has 11 catches for 144 yards. Kelly leads the league in rushing with 428 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when McIntosh County Academy takes on Bacon County. At the moment, the Buccaneers are in fifth, while the Raiders are in fourth.

The Indians were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in AA Region 2. Vidalia beat Benedictine 12-7 earlier in the week.
