Soccer Game Preview: Whitney vs. Pioneer

The Whitney Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Pioneer Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitney's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Whitney's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They beat Glenn by a goal, winning 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1103rd, while the Eagles are ranked 432nd).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Pioneer was forced to settle for a draw. They and Oxford Academy finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Monday.

Pioneer's draw gives them a new season record of 5-8-1. As for Whitney, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7-4.

Whitney came up short against Pioneer in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Whitney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
