Basketball Recap: Lexi Bird's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leadore over Grace Lutheran

Leadore entered their match against Grace Lutheran on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Leadore Mustangs fell just short of the Grace Lutheran Royals by a score of 41-39. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Royals earlier this season, when they won 42-23.

Leadore's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Bird, who posted eight points along with five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Bird is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Mackay, who scored eight points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Leadore and nudges their season record down to 15-4. As for Grace Lutheran, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

As of now, neither Leadore nor Grace Lutheran have any future games scheduled.
