Volleyball Recap: Wilkes-Barre Wins Going Away Against Scranton

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wilkes-Barre had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Scranton Knights as they made off with a 3-0 win.

While Wilkes-Barre won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-23, 25-14.

Wilkes-Barre found their leader in sophomore Tijan Njai, who had nine digs and two aces. Njai is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 15 games he's played. Joseph Rea was another key player, getting 13 digs and three aces.

Wilkes-Barre was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.7 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 7.2.

Wilkes-Barre has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11-2 record this season. As for Scranton, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

As of now, neither Wilkes-Barre nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
