Basketball Game Preview: Concord Minutemen vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

Concord is 2-8 against Plymouth since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Concord Minutemen will take on the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 1:30 p.m. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Plymouth will be up against a hot Concord team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Concord breezed by Jimtown to the tune of 53-21 on Tuesday.

Concord got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelby Emerick out in front who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points and four steals. Emerick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Ganger, who posted nine points along with eight boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Plymouth over La Porte in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Plymouth blew past La Porte 59-33. The Pilgrims/Rockies pushed the score to 48-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Slicers had little chance of recovering from.

Plymouth has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Concord, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Concord beat Plymouth 59-49 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Plymouth's Lena Jones, who went 9 for 20 on her way to 24 points and five rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Concord still be able to contain Jones? There's only one way to find out.
