Football Recap: Montgomery Victorious

Montgomery extended their postseason success on Friday against Woodbridge. They managed a 20-15 win over the Barrons. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Barrons back in October, they had to take a 41-31 loss.

When it comes to explaining why Woodbridge lost, don't look at Joshua Allen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 101 yards and one TD. The Barrons are 7-1 when Allen posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Montgomery and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 25 points in those games. As for Woodbridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.

Montgomery will head out on the road to take on Phillipsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stateliners' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. Woodbridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
