Basketball Recap: Albany Academy for Boys Takes a Loss

Albany Academy for Boys has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 73-67 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders. While the Cadets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 20-16 in the first quarter.

Archbishop Stepinac's win on Sunday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Danny Carbuccia, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and seven assists. Carbuccia is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jasiah Jervis was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Albany Academy for Boys' loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Archbishop Stepinac, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Albany Academy for Boys and Archbishop Stepinac should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Albany Academy for Boys (ranked seventh) will meet La Salle Institute (ranked 55th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac (ranked first) will meet Mt. St. Michael Academy (ranked 401st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
