Basketball Game Preview: Patriot Pioneers vs. Mountain View Wildcats

The Patriot Pioneers will venture away from home to square off against the Mountain View Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Patriot was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Freedom. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Patriot's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cheyenne Sweeney, who posted 13 points along with seven boards and five assists, and Angel King, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and six rebounds. That's the most assists Sweeney has posted since back in November of 2023. Maliyah Hill also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Massaponax, falling 33-12. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Patriot's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Patriot came up short against Mountain View when the teams last played back in November of 2015, falling 52-48. Can Patriot avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
