Basketball Game Preview: Heyworth Hornets vs. Meridian Hawks

The Heyworth Hornets will square off against the Meridian Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Heyworth had to suffer through a 69-36 loss at the hands of Tremont. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Turks: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Meridian suffered their closest defeat since December 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by a score of 50-47.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Heyworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Heyworth was able to grind out a solid win over Meridian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 40-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heyworth since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
