Basketball Recap: Cameron Perry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Eugene over North Eugene

South Eugene and North Eugene faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The South Eugene Axe fell 68-59 to the North Eugene Highlanders. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Axe still had to take the loss.

South Eugene lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cameron Perry, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Perry a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Yoder, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Leading North Eugene to victory were Jordan Gray and Zach Fisher. Gray dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, while Fisher went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. D'Mariyae Ireland was another key player, putting up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for South Eugene and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for North Eugene, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

South Eugene will challenge Ridgeview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Eugene, they will take on Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Eugene is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
