Basketball Game Preview: Huntingtown Hurricanes vs. McDonough Rams

The Huntingtown Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the McDonough Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Huntingtown is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2024 on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Patuxent with a sharp 49-25 win. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Panthers are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, McDonough hadn't done well against Westlake recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. McDonough skirted past Westlake 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since January 17, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for McDonough and bumps their season record up to 4-7. As for Huntingtown, their record now sits at 10-1.

Huntingtown was able to grind out a solid victory over McDonough in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 53-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was McDonough's Maleesah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards.
