Baseball Recap: Yulee Find Success

While Yulee's win against Hilliard wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Red Flashes 3-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Red Flashes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Brodie Nichols spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has become a key player for Yulee: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Kenny Schweitzer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Yulee's record is now 13-10. As for Hilliard, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yulee will venture away from home to square off against Glynn Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Terrors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hilliard, they are taking a road trip to take on Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
