Adyson Ordway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leila Hermosillo and Taylor Passalacqua did most of the damage at the plate: Hermosillo scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-3, while Passalacqua scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Passalacqua a new career-high. Kyla Decker was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Patriots. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by nine runs or more this season.
Cailee Culwell and Mia Garcia were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Culwell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Culwell scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Garcia scored a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Hallie Watkins was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Fowler, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Flagstaff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Queen Creek only posted a batting average of .095.
Deer Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Flagstaff, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6-1.
Deer Valley couldn't quite finish off Flagstaff when the teams last played back in April of 2022 and fell 7-5. Will the Skyhawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
