Soccer Game Preview: Charlottesville vs. Monticello

The Charlottesville Black Knights will face off against the Monticello Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Monticello will be up against a hot Charlottesville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Black Knights' defense stepped up to hand Goochland a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. Charlottesville's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Meanwhile, Monticello strolled into their game on Thursday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Louisa County as they made off with a 5-0 win. Grayson Davis was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Monticello's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Charlottesville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Charlottesville came out on top in a nail-biter against Monticello in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Black Knights repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
