Football Recap: Archbishop Mitty Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Archbishop Mitty had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 33-12 to the Acalanes Dons on Friday. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2018.

Despite the loss, Archbishop Mitty still got an impressive performance from Lazaro Faraj-Washington, who rushed for 123 yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Ethan Chase for the heroic effort on defense: he. Archbishop Mitty's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.2.

Archbishop Mitty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Kai Sniffen led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Finley Rivera went supernova For Acalanes., picking up 158 receiving yards and one score. Those 158 receiving yards gave Rivera a new career-high. Josh Elerts was in the mix as well, providing Acalanes with two touchdowns.

Archbishop Mitty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 33-20 win against Wilcox on the 5th. As for Acalanes, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-3 victory against Menlo-Atherton on the 5th.
