Meanwhile, Grafton won against Preston on Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Bearcats blew past Liberty 18-0. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Lillie Crimm was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ruth Horne, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Karigan Wildroudt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Grafton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Grafton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buckhannon-Upshur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Grafton struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
