Basketball Game Preview: Niles North Vikings vs. Niles West Wolves

Niles North is 2-8 against Niles West since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Niles North Vikings will take on the Niles West Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Niles North will be strutting in after a victory while Niles West will be coming in after a defeat.

Niles North is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 60-46 win over ITW David Speer Academy on Saturday. Niles North's victory was all the more impressive since the Pride were averaging only 29 points allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, Niles West came up short against Resurrection on Tuesday, falling 44-19. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Bandits are ranked 125th).

Niles North moved to 6-9 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. As for Niles West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.

Niles North suffered a grim 56-32 defeat to Niles West in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Niles North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
