Softball Recap: Elverado Falcons vs. Frankfort Redbirds
Elverado lost against Frankfort back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Falcons fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 3-2. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maggie Elson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching nine innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double.
Elson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maci Cararway, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Another was Brandelynn Poole, who got on base in four of her eight plate appearances.
Elverado's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Frankfort, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Elverado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Galatia/Thompsonville on the 21st. As for Frankfort, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Johnston City on the 21st.
