Baseball Recap: Mansfield Senior Drops Season-High Score on Crestline

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mansfield Senior). They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Crestline Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Tygers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Guy Trader was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Peyton Page was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Mansfield Senior is undefeated when Page posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Joshua Malone was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mansfield Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Mansfield Senior's record now sits at 5-8. As for Crestline, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Mansfield Senior will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
