Baseball Recap: Ringgold Takes a Loss

Ringgold lost against West Mifflin on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rams fell just short of the Titans by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by just one run.

Anthony Koziel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alex Kolano was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Sam Allen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Ringgold's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for West Mifflin, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Ringgold and West Mifflin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Rams will square off against Uniontown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (244 vs. 510). Meanwhile, West Mifflin (ranked 118th) will meet Laurel Highlands (ranked 336th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
