Softball Recap: O'Connor Eagles vs. Gila Ridge Hawks
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but O'Connor had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Gila Ridge Hawks by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Not much got past Rachel Davis, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Gila Ridge off the board. Davis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sydnee Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chloe Holbrook, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Gila Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.
Looking ahead, O'Connor is taking a road trip to square off against Sunnyside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Gila Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
