Basketball Recap: Landon Comes Up Short

Landon fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Patriot on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Patriot Pioneers 87-83. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (75), the Bears still had to take the loss.

Elijah Gaskins went supernova for Patriot, going 14 of 17 en route to 35 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Gaskins is now averaging an impressive 22.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Carter Crumity, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points.

Landon now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Patriot, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

When Landon and Patriot next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Landon will try to stop Old Mill's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Patriot will try to stop Riverside's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
