Softball Recap: C. Milton Wright Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

C. Milton Wright lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edgewood, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams a 13-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three games by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Izzie Youngworth made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kendra Miller was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Hoskins, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

C. Milton Wright kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

C. Milton Wright is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

C. Milton Wright will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
