League recap: Smiths Station stuns Jefferson Davis in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Smiths Station, who took down 110th ranked Jefferson Davis, 28-19.

Jeremy Johnson and Landy Capetillo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Opelika. The connection was good for 66 yards, the longest such play in 6A Region 3 this season.

Carver's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johnson threw for 301 and three touchdowns and Capetillo had 95 yards receiving. On the ground Harvey Harris chipped in 76 yards. Charles Standberry helped Carver's passing attack out by catching five balls for 66 yards.

Rashaan Evans made the biggest impact on defense this week as Auburn topped Lanier. The defensive lineman racked up three sacks.

Carver's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1014 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Melvin Tyus has 16 catches for 319 yards. Harris leads the league in rushing with 390 yards.

The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Poets, 42-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Auburn.
