Baseball Recap: Hughson Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Hughson couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheatland Pirates on Wednesday. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Carlos Guizar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce McDaniel, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hughson dropped their record down to 26-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Wheatland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9-1 record this season.

While Hughson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
