Basketball Recap: Orcutt Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jordan Sedillo and Isaiah Soto

Orcutt Academy and Granite Hills squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Orcutt Academy had to settle for second. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Granite Hills Grizzlies. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Orcutt Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Soto and Jordan Sedillo. Soto went 8-for-15 en route to 21 points, while Sedillo went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and six steals. The dominant performance gave Sedillo a new career-high in assists. Jaysean Morrison was another key player, putting up four points and three blocks.

Orcutt Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Granite Hills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-10.

Orcutt Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Granite Hills, they will take on Exeter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Exeter will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Granite Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
