Softball Game Preview: Guilderland Flying Dutchmen vs. Albany Falcons

The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen will square off against the Albany Falcons at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Albany took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Guilderland, who comes in off a win.

Guilderland got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They won by a run and slipped past Averill Park 2-1. The Flying Dutchmen haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Giada Vivenzio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Guilderland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hallie Czajka, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Danielle Mahar also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Albany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 11-6 to Saratoga Springs.

Albany's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Guilderland, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Guilderland was able to grind out a solid win over Albany when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Flying Dutchmen repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
