Preview: Lakeview Bulldogs vs. Poland Seminary Bulldogs
Lakeview is 0-10 against Poland Seminary since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lakeview Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Poland Seminary Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. Lakeview will be strutting in after a victory while Poland Seminary will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Lakeview has not done well against South Range recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Lakeview snuck past South Range with a 36-32 victory. Lakeview didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Lakeview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mackenzie Stowe led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Haynie, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Poland Seminary had to settle for a 40-38 loss against Columbiana on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Poland Seminary can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Columbiana is ranked 39th).
Lakeview's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Poland Seminary, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Lakeview took a serious blow against Poland Seminary when the teams last played back in February, falling 60-26. Can Lakeview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
