Basketball Recap: St. Cloud Continues Home Dominance on Friday

St. Cloud had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 29-point drubbing they dealt Celebration on Friday. The St. Cloud Bulldogs took their contest with ease, bagging a 58-29 victory over the Celebration Storm. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

St. Cloud can attribute much of their success to Diomar Ortiz, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Ortiz a new career-high in points. Elias Torres was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

St. Cloud was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Celebration only racked up nine assists.

Celebration's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Edson Oliveira Da Silva, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Edouard, who scored six points and nine boards.

St. Cloud pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Celebration, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

St. Cloud will host Eau Gallie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Cloud is facing Eau Gallie at the right time seeing as Eau Gallie is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Celebration, they will head out on the road to face off against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Osceola has 14 straight victories, Celebration has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
